Spin physics ahead of NICA SPD

The V.P. Dzhelepov Scholarship has been awarded to LNP JINR engineer A. Boikov for his fundamental contribution to developing the data acquisition system concept for the SPD experiment and for designing and building electronics for next-generation elementary particle detectors.

IX SPD Collaboration Meeting

On Feb. 25 the Collaboration Board approved A. Korzenev (JINR) as Technical Coordinator for a new two-year term. D. Oleynik (JINR) has been appointed as the new software coordinator. A. Kiryanov (PNPI) and A. Petrosyan have been appopinted as his deputies. The collaboration thanks A. Zhemchugov for more than four years of service as software coordinator.

The SPD Technical Design Report has been published as the first article of the first issue of the new JINR Journal “Natural Science Review”.

VIII SPD Collaboration Meeting

Congratulations to our young colleagues A. Ivanov (VBLHEP, JINR) and N. Koviazina (DLNP, JINR) on their successful participation in the Youth Report Competition at the JINR High Enegry Physics PAC session on June 17. Their talks “FARICH simulation in SPD” and “Optimization of gas mixtures for the Micromegas-based central tracker of the SPD experiment” were honored with 2nd and 3rd prizes.

InSTEC signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the SPD collaboration.
